The Middle East self-destruction mode

War in Syria was initially meant to topple the Assad regime within a couple of weeks (same as happened to Tunisian Ben Ali and to Egyptian Mubarak). It is sadly living its seventh year with no foreseen end.

The latest front opened in South West Syria (Daraa) where all began in March 2011, will mean more exodus out of Syria of what will reach soon one third of its population, while another 2 million are “parked” in the North Western enclave of Idlib awaiting to be ousted sooner or later towards Turkey.

Unless you know well Syria, above means little to you, but what should be retained is the general situation of the Middle East that has lived under “self-destruction mode” since Jordan Black September back in 1970, through 15 years of dreadful war in Lebanon (1975-1990), with all four  Gulf wars that destroyed Syria and Iraq starting 1980,and all wars that followed 2010 Arab Spring in” Syriak” with ISIS, in Lybia, and Yemen, not forgetting Somalia and Sudan and why not Afghanistan.

A “self-destruction mode” fueled by opportunistic local factions, but financed and armed by world and regional powers, each having its own agenda for the future of a defunct Arab world patiently built by the British and French then Empires at the eve of the 20th century.

One of the major issues of this mutation has been the ever and increasing misunderstanding between the “Christian West” and the “Muslim Middle East”. This will by all means seriously impact the world’s 21st Century, especially in Europe but also in North America. I will address this problem in my conference at the Chilean Diplomatic Academy and at the ANEPE in Santiago next November, but till then I will share with you an analysis of the actual drama lived in South West Syria showing how the West has been treating local populations and explaining why the West will keep no real friends to talk to in this region.

And please do not believe that the "Deal of the Century" presently brokered by President Trump son in law will improve the relation nor even that it will succeed.
