Those interested in Middle East Affairs, have followed for the past months the passionate elections of Israeli Knesset (Parliament)

Israel has always been isolated in the Arab Middle East. Peace treaties with Egypt then with Jordan and sympathetic attitudes of some Arab Oil Rich Monarchies, never cured this isolation.

Israel has always been banned by non Arab Muslim countries which looked at the occupying power of the third Holly City of Islam: Jerusalem with great suspicion.

Israel lost in 1978 the Iranian support with the fall of the Shah and gained its worse enemy: The Islamic Republic of Iran

Israel for decades in excellent terms with secular Ataturk Turkey and its generals, is now the scapegoat of its leading islamist party: the AKP of President Erdogan

While the USA under President Obama, has modified its Mid Eastern policy, PM Netanyahu insisted to counter such move and did all he could to involve militarily the USA in a new war against Iran. Confident in the evident money power of the Israeli Lobby in the USA, he went as far of twisting the hand of Pdt Obama by addressing the US Congress with an election speech that suggested no solution but war.

Most of us looked at this attempt as bringing the end of PM Netanyahu's political career, his swansong. He had put Israel in the awkward position, alone facing the world

Well, while an important chunk of the Israeli society aspired for a change, the Israeli voters chose Netanyahu again!

Why?

Most Israelis are afraid, they have gone too far since establishing their State in 1948, they have been too smart all the way using their influential networks and means. By being so clever, they did not notice that they were continuously crossing points of no return.

Nowadays their only choice is "rushing ahead" and they did it at the last elections.

We obviously are not heading towards peaceful times in the Middle East

Collapsing Arab States, replaced by Islamist stone age regimes are certainly not easing any solution.

As to the Israeli Establishment, the following analysis give an idea of the post election feelings. Will the deceived elements keep on fighting for a "more cooperative" Israel or will insolence keep guiding its leadership?
